SCTR - Suspension Component Test Rig

Acoustic quality and drive comfort play an increasingly important role in the development of new chassis and suspension systems. Noise in suspension components lead to high warranty costs and are difficult to diagnose. The new MB Suspension Component Test Rig (SCTR) enables highly dynamic simulation of real road excitations with superimposed compressive forces for comprehensive sound and vibration analysis on a wide variety of chassis components.

The highly dynamic and acoustically quiet linear motor actuator and the use of air bearings allow for high-fidelity dynamic waveforms and extremely high simulation quality of recorded acceleration, force or displacement signals. Objective Squeak & Rattle analyses and vibration measurements are not affected by drive noise and friction noise. Stick-slip, rattling and creaking noises in the suspension components can be metrologically analyzed and assessed objectively. A targeted optimization of the spring-damper system gets possible by measuring and comparing the dynamic transmission behavior of various components.
